Tracks have been set at Pigeon
Lake Provincial Park and Rundle's Mission
with just enough new snow (5in) to keep
us going for at least another few days.
Roads are passable and in good winter driving condition.
Skiing at Pigeon Lake is going to be awesome this weekend.
Hope you're able to get out and have a great weekend
wherever you are!
PS…… if you're looking for a good deal on a bicycle this
spring check out Mud, Sweat & Gears (780-449-2453) in
Sherwood Park ASAP.
They're blowing out Kona bikes for half price while
quantities last!
Saturday, March 17th
Pigeon Lake trails
are icy but skiable.
Klister is recomended to get around.
Saturday, March 10th
Pigeon Lake trails are quickly
deteriorating. PLPP, although it hasn't been trackset since
the last major snow-fall, has good skied-in tracks. It may
have a chance when this is all over.
Rundle's Mission is tracked. If it ever freezes, trail
conditions will be icy….
and fast
Tuesday, February 28th
Trails at Pigeon Lake Provincial
Park and Rundle's Mission have been groomed and trackset.
Ski conditions are very good and it's shaping up to be a
great week for getting out and enjoying the mild weather
and our beautiful countryside
Friday, February 24th
Pigeon Lake trails remain
ungroomed but in good condition. Two to three inches of new
snow over the past week with good skied in tracks. Drifting
in the usual spots at Rundle's but still very skiable.
Grooming and tracksetting will hopefully resume after the
anticipated snow event this weekend.
The dogsled, skijoring and horse events at the Appleman's
edition of the Pigeon Lake Sled Dog Classic were a great
success. Great turnout and pleasant weather all contributed
to a memorable weekend.
Friday, February 17th
Conditions at PLPP are still good,
a bit icy in spots and quite fast.
If you're looking for something a little different this
weekend, why not try
the Pigeon Lake Sled Dog Classic (and Skijoring too)
Starts @ 9 Sat & Sun
Also between 2 and 3 we will be treated to a special horse
skijoring demonstration.
Check out…..www.pigeonlakesleddogclub.cafor this and so much
more.
Friday, February 10th
Amazingly, trails at Pigeon Lake
Provincial Park and Rundle's Mission
are still in good condition. Tracks are fast but not icy,
with the exception
of one or two short sections.
Looks like another great weekend for skiing at Pigeon
Lake.
As well, the Pigeon Lake Sled Dog Club will be hosting sled
dog and
skijoring
races next weekend….. February 18-19. All are welcome to
attend this fun event.
Check out….. pigeonlakesleddogclub.cafor more info.
Friday,
February 3rd
Trail
conditions at PLPP and Rundle's Mission remain good. A
light dusting of snow Wednsday evening was all it took
to freshen up the tracks. Skiing in the Pigeon Lake area is
looking very good for the weekend.
Have fun!!!
Friday, January 27th
Good
News! Grooming and tracksetting at PLPP and Rundle's
Mission went well considering snow conditions and all. A
few thin spots on the lower part of Loop A and the Southern
East/West stretch of Loop C. A little snow this weekend
will fix that up.
Rundle's
Mission worked up nicely with only a couple of grassy/icy
sections.
Better get out there and have a good ski this weekend…..
warmer weather is on the way again next week.
Sunday, January 22nd
No new snow.
Skied-in tracks are on the menu for the time being but the
warmer weather makes for good skiing here at Pigeon Lake.
We need a little more snow the begin grooming again.
Thursday, January 19th
We're back at it again on skied-in
tracks here at Pigeon Lake with 3in of new snow.
Grooming
and tracksetting will commence on Saturday providing we get
another couple in inches of snow. Watch for Saturday
update.
Friday, January 6th
Trail conditions
have deterated recently to the point where skiing would be
considered risky….. very icy with bare spots.
We're done here for the time being.
Friday, December 30th
Skiing conditions continue to be
good in the Pigeon Lake area.
Light
snow early Thursday morning took the edge off the somewhat
icy conditions and cooler temperatures are looking good for
near future.
Have a great ski this weekend and have a very Happy New
Year!
Friday, December 23rd
3 more inches of
snow recently and freshly groomed and tracked trails at
PLPP & Rundle's Mission make for a great Christmas
weekend.
Ski conditions here at Pigeon Lake are better than ever and
as long as the forecast co-operates, we're in for some
great winter fun.
Best of the season to all.
SUNDAY, December 18th
It's Sunday morning
and it's been snowing here most of the night. Tracks were a
little icy after Saturday's warm temps but that's all
changed now.
Skiing conditions here in the Pigeon Lake area are very
good. I hope the same can be said for the rest of Central
Alberta what with Christmas and New Years coming on and
all.
Have a great weekend!!
FRIDAY, December 9th
Trails at Pigeon
Lake ProvincialPark and Rundle'sMission have been packed,
groomed and trackset. Some debris leftover from the strong
winds last week but overall, ski conditions in the Pigeon
Lake area are very good.
Thanks to our new Conservation Officer Brent Artimowich,
the parling and picnic area have been cleared.
Trail signs will be going up next week and it looks like
we're off to a great start this season.
Have a great weekend. Hope to see you on the trails
soon..... Mike
